Hamilton County Virtual
School offers summer school remediation for students in grades
six, seven, and eight through the web-based CompassLearning Odyssey
program in each of the following core subjects:
- Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
A number of computer labs will be available to students at middle schools
throughout the district during the summer, and statistics show that
students who complete their summer school work in a lab setting perform
at higher levels.
However, students with Internet access at home may complete their
coursework outside of a lab setting unless their middle school
principal requires
lab attendance. Ask your guidance counselor or principal for
information about computer lab availability and summer school
requirements.
To find out if your home computer is compatible with the Compass
program, go to System Requirements.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Hamilton
County Virtual School does not make decisions regarding promotion
of middle school students.
A variety of reports
are made available to middle school principals with regard
to a student’s
performance in the Compass program, and the principal
makes the decision to retain or promote.
