Grading

Report cards are issued each nine weeks.  Progress reports are issued every three weeks between each nine week period.  Report cards and progress reports will be issued to students and are not mailed.  Grades are reported on a numerical basis.  To receive credit for a course, a student must maintain an average of 70 or above.  Grades are finalized at the end of each semester (December and May).  The finalized grades are used to calculate Grade Point Average (GPA).  The grading scale is as follows:

A = 93-100, B = 85-92, C = 76-84, D = 70-75, F = 0-69.

Grade classification occurs at the beginning of the academic school year.  Grade classification (promotion/retention) is based on total accumulated credits.  Grade classification for the 2007-2008 school year is as follows:

Academy Structure

Each student entering Red Bank High School will begin in the Ninth Grade Academy.  The Ninth Grade Academy will consist of first-time ninth graders.  During their first year of high school in this academy, students will be introduced to each academy offered at Red Bank High School.  Students will choose an academy starting their 10th grade year.  These academies correlate with the design of the single path diploma.  Each academy falls below one of the following single path options.  Majors are available in Math/Science/Technology, Humanities/Fine Arts, or Career Technical.  Although other options are possible, most academies have a “natural fit” for their students’ major selection.  It is possible for students to have a double major. Graduating seniors from the classes of 2009, 2010 and 2011 must have four credits in their academy major as part of the Single Path Diploma.
