
"Possession of an electronic pager by a student on school property, without permission of the school principal or his designated representative..." is prohibited. (TCA 49-6)
Any unauthorized possession of a beeper/pager or cellular-type telephone shall result in the device being forfeited to the school system and turned over to the local law enforcement agency.
In addition to confiscation, possession could result in suspension and, depending on the circumstances, could result in expulsion from the Hamilton County School System.
- Any student found to be in possession of a beeper/pager, without the permission of the school principal or his/her designated representative, shall immediately give the device to the principal upon request. If the student refuses to turn over the device, the principal shall notify the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
- Any confiscated beeper/pager shall be forfeited to the school system and turned over to the local law enforcement officials.
- The punishment for the first violation of this policy shall be confiscation of the device.
- The punishment for any repeat violation(s) of this policy or a concurrent violation(s) of other board or school policies shall result in a minimum punishment of suspension from school and, depending on the circumstances, could result in a recommendation that the student be expelled from the school system.
- The provisions of this section shall also apply to any type of a wireless telephone, such as a cellular telephone.
