Regional forms were due already; however, if you still wish to compete at the state conference (April 2nd-4th) visit Mrs. Coggin in room 421. Regionals will take place February 6 at Cleveland State.

FBLA Week is from Monday, February 9 through Friday, February 13. Matchmaker results will be sold this week during lunch. There will also be a party where cake and snacks will be served during directed studies on Tuesday. You must be a paid FBLA member to attend. Any purchased tulips will be delivered Wednesday. FBLA National President Visits Ooltewah

Induction of Ooltewah High School FBLA Officers

The National President of Future Business Leaders of America, Joseph Riley, will be visiting Ooltewah High School on Friday, August 22, 2008 to induct the school’s FBLA officers. The Induction Ceremony will take place at 2:20 p.m. in the Little Theatre of Ooltewah High.

Samantha Munro, President of the FBLA chapter at Ooltewah High School, is also the Tennessee Region 8 President, serving alongside Mr. Riley on the Tennessee FBLA State Officer Team. “It is such an honor to have Joseph conducting our induction ceremony. I have learned so much from working with him for the past two years as state officers. I hope that the Ooltewah FBLA members will be encouraged by his visit and realize that, just as Joseph, they can achieve anything they dream with perseverance and determination.”

Joseph Riley of McMinn Central High School in Etowah, Tennessee, was recently elected the 2008-2009 FBLA National President at the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia during the summer. Mr. Riley is the second person from Tennessee to be elected the FBLA National President, following in the footsteps of Jerry N. Estes who was the 1968-1969 National President. Joseph Riley also serves as the 2008-2009 FBLA Tennessee State President. Outside of FBLA, he has accomplished several things. Mr. Riley is a former governor of 4-H. He was also elected Tennessee Boys State Governor, which presented him with the opportunity to attend Boys Nation this summer in Washington D.C. With much determination, he was elected the Boys Nation President. Joseph Riley has proven himself to be an outstanding leader, as well as, role model.

“Joseph is to me one of the most motivated young people that I have come in contact with during my 27 years of teaching. He is determined to excel in all aspects of his life. I look forward to seeing Joseph in Washington in the future as a member of the Senate, House, or even a future President of the United States. He is in fact ‘One of the best of the best.’ He is bound for a future of successes.”

All students and faculty members attending our installation ceremony Friday will have the opportunity to talk with Joseph Riley afterwards and ask questions about the future of FBLA and other activities.
