ABOUT NICHOLAS' HEART FUND

The Nicholas' Heart Fund is an effort by the local medical community, hospitals, Emergency Medical Services and other individuals dedicated to reducing the incidence of sudden cardiac death.  They are working together to make Chattanooga a "Heart Safe" community by:

• Raising the needed funds to place AEDs in the 79 Hamilton County public and private schools that have athletic programs.

• Providing CPR and AED training to staff members of schools that received an AED.

• Implementing an emergency action plan for a sudden cardiac arrest event and provide forms to document the event.

• Establishing a database in conjunction with Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services to collect statistics from all AED recipients and report program effectiveness to the community.

• Placing AEDs in churches and other public spaces throughout the community, as Phase II of the program.
