Dear McBrien Parents, Teachers, Community Members, and Stakeholders
This will be the final edition of our school newsletter and within this letter you will see we have tried to make it special by highlighting on page two what our students are learning about during our final days in the existence of our school.
For me, I feel like in summary our journey and the existence of our school has been similar to Dr. Seuss’s book, “Oh The Places You’ll Go!” And will we succeed was the question we pondered? Since 1954, hundreds of educators, support staff, and parents have been providing “Academic Success for All Students who enter the doors of McBrien. We tried to capture the spirit of this success as you tour our school and museum during “Homecoming Week”. As we move into a week of celebrating what has made our school a vital resource for the East Ridge Community, we want to always remember McBrien will live in our hearts forever.
As you continue on this journey with a new principal, beautiful new school, and new programs the wisdom of Dr. Seuss comes to mind. Let us “keep the balance, find bright places where Boom Bands are playing, be ready for anything under the sky, and face up to our problems whatever they are. “And will you succeed” Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.) You’ll move mountains!”
Thanks so much for your prayers, the journey, the laughter, your dedication and friendship. It has been an honor to serve as principal in our final year at McBrien Elementary School.
With great appreciation,
William L. Fain, Jr.

Do you need child care before and/or after school? Did you know the Hamilton County Schools offer a child care program at McBrien Elementary? We provide homework time, arts and crafts, music, reading, games, outdoor play and much, much more.
The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. until 7:50 a.m. for morning care and 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. for afternoon care. There is a $10.00 non-refundable registration fee per child. The daily rates are very reasonable at $3.00 per morning and $6.00 per afternoon. Unlike most private day care programs, you only pay for the sessions that your child attends. There is a sibling discount on daily rates when both children attend on the same day.
If you would like more information, or would like to register your child for before and/or after care, please see Mrs. Stacy Ellis before or after school call 861-6880 ext. 115. Hope to see you soon!

For the protection of all McBrien children, always present your yellow identification card at the front door at dismissal before we release your children to you. If you do not have this, please come to the front office with a picture ID to get one. Even though you are familiar to us, this is a good practice for the safety of the children.
Parents of Walkers!
Children who walk home are sometimes stopping at the Pioneer Frontier to play. This is unsupervised by adults and children could be in harms’ way. Also, if you are having your child walk to you to your car, we cannot assure the proper people are getting your child. You may want to walk to the front doors and present your yellow identification card.
