Our Heroes have launched themselves into a new quarter with enthusiasm and hard work. We are continuing to learn new skills and build character as we work toward the end of another successful year. As we begin a new semester, we look forward to many new experiences, both in the area of academics and other school activities. English students were asked to submit a “New Year’s Resolution” for the coming year. These proved very interesting to read, and some reflect a maturity level in several areas, not only in the academic field, but also in the area of interpersonal relationships. Below are some interesting resolutions.
“My resolution is to not let everyone else around me get in my way of doing well in school.” “I am going to start doing more chores at home.” “This year I will try to do all my daily work in my classes.” “I am resolved to make all A’s this semester.” “I resolve to lose some weight so I can fit into some of my new clothes.” “I resolve to participate in more extracurricular activities.” “I will try to be more responsible this year, both at home and at school.” “My resolution is to be more respectful of my parents and try to get along with my brothers.” “I made a New Year’s Resolution not to make a New Year’s Resolution because I always end up breaking mine.”
As you can see from the above resolutions, we should witness improvements in all areas here at Hunter. The Heroes are setting worthwhile goals for the future. We have been working with your child in the area of character education, stressing the importance of responsibility, respect, caring, perseverance, and self-discipline. Hopefully these values have made a lasting impression on your young person. The students selected to represent our team for the character trait of caring are Kevin Dupree, Jonathan Kell, Melinda Baker, and Karly Newman. Congratulations to these fine young people for their outstanding character. We have had an especially busy month preparing for the Spelling Bee. The finalists on the Heroes team were Noelle Bell, Austin Burnett, Wesley Carroll, Katie Cuttle, Jon Meadows, and Jordan Stevens as alternate. Congratulations to these six students for a job well done! We are extremely proud of you. The Heroes have been hard at work in all academic classes, sharpening our old skills and mastering new ones. We hope you will encourage your child to do his/her very best in all areas, both academic and extracurricular. It is our hope that you will work together with your child to set attainable goals for the coming semester. We would like to stress the importance of setting goals that are within reason. We are emphasizing skills daily in all subject areas in order to help our students accomplish this. We are looking forward to a most profitable and prosperous second semester as we strive to attain SUCCESS FOR ALL STUDENTS! The Heroes Teachers
