Teaching the same students two years in a row is not every teacher’s idea of a dream come true. To some, this may even sound like a nightmare. I did not know which way it would be for me when I was told that I would be moving from sixth grade to seventh grade. I was nervous but excited, and I looked forward to the challenge. On registration day, as students were picking up schedules and meeting new teachers, I was greeted by my students with many different expressions. Some faces showed smiles, some frowns, and many showed disbelief. Many students wanted to know if they were still in the sixth grade, since I, their sixth grade history teacher, was now in seventh grade. All in all, I feel that we have readjusted to each other well this year. Often it feels as if we just picked up where we left off in sixth grade. We all know what to expect from each other, whether it be good or bad. I have seen much maturity in my students and an overall attitude change in some. They have probably noted changes in me, too. After two years together, we have become very close. It is going to be very hard to say goodbye to them in May.
