Dress Code

 

The school dress and grooming shall be modest, moderate, and decent.  Apparel or appearance that tends to draw attention to an individual rather than to a learning situation must be avoided.  In matters of opinion, the judgment of the teachers and principals will prevail.  Items listed below are the appropriate apparel to wear.  All items must be size appropriate.

 

Shoes

*  Shoes and socks must be worn at all times.  Shoes must be laced or other wise fastened.

*  No open-toes shows or sandals are permitted.

 

Pants

*  Pants must be solid colors of tan or navy.

*  No hip-hugger, Capri, stretch, or cargo pants are allowed.

*  Pants must have belt loops and a belt must be worn.

*  Pants must be hemmed.  They cannot have tears splits, or cargo-type pockets.

 

Shorts and Skirts

*  Shorts and skirts will not be allowed at any time.

 

Shirts

*  Golf or polo style shirts of any solid color (no stripes) are the only shirts allowed.  These shirts all have collars, no more than three buttons at the neck and sleeves.  They must be long enough to be tucked into pants.

*  No writing or pictures are allowed on the shirts with the exception of a very small name brand emblem that appears on one side at chest level.

*  All shirts must be long enough to be easily tucked and must be able to stay tucked at all times.

 

Sweaters

*  Cardigan, crew, V-neck, and turtleneck sweaters are the only clothing that may be added for cold weather or air-conditioner comfort.  Jackets, fleece, sweatshirts, or windbreakers will be allowed to be worn to school, but must be placed in the student’s locker at the beginning of the school day.  These may not be worn in the classroom.  Exceptions may be made for school-sponsored items.

 

Buttons/Pins

*  Only those related to school sponsored activities are allowed.

 

Hair/Make-up/Jewelry

*  Visible piercing must be confined to the ears only.

*  Hair and make-up must not disrupt the educational process in any way.  Hair must be natural in color.

*  No visible body art or drawings are permitted.

 

Hats/Head Coverings

*  These items may not be worn inside the building

 

Book bags may be brought to school in the morning and placed in assigned lockers.  Students will collect book bags from their locker at the end of the day.  Book bags may not be taken to class.

 

The administration reserves the right to add to or delete from the above code in order to maintain a safe educational environment.  In the event of heating or cooling problems, the administration reserves the right to alter the dress code.

 

Dress Down Rules

Blue Jeans, Tee Shirt (does not have to be tucked in).  No shorts or Capri pants.  Tee Shirts should have sleeves and not be violent or culturally unacceptable.
