Message from PTSA President
Chandra Chandrasekaran
We wish everyone a very successful and enjoyable
2002-03 school year. We are fortunate to have an excellent
team of PTSA board members this year ready to serve everyone
associated with our school. PTSA board members have been
very busy this summer developing the planned activities
for this year. Our PTSA objectives are to promote the education
and welfare of children and to develop between educators
and the general public such united efforts as will secure
for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical,
mental, and social education.
This year we all have an additional major
challenge dealing with the financial shortfalls from the
school system budget cutbacks and trying to maintain the
necessary support that our school needs. We need your strong
support this year with our fundraising efforts. The PTSA
fundraising goal for this year is twenty five thousand dollars.
This challenging goal will allow the faculty and students
to develop educational projects that are rewarding throughout
the year. CSAS PTSA funds pay for many things throughout
the school year including class trips & college trips for
students in need, faculty appreciation and enrichment, student
directory/handbook, technology needs, monthly newsletters
and postage used to keep our membership informed of special
notices, needs and activities, student club needs and activities,
and staffing during the summer so that class scheduling
is completed before the school year begins. In addition,
each year brings special project ideas from the teachers,
students and staff that our PTSA can fund. The more money
we raise the more PTSA can do. Our success over the years
has always been a total team effort by everyone associated
with our school which will continue to excel through these
challenging times with your strong support.
The membership drive is currently underway
and we urge everyone to join the PTSA and support our activities.
Faculty and staff have already reached the goal of 100%
membership in PTSA and are extending the challenge to parents,
students, CSAS alumni & family friends.
Communication is the foundation of a solid
team partnership between parents and educators. PTSA will
do everything possible to communicate effectively throughout
the year through our monthly newsletters, periodic handouts
sent through students, phone tree messages, PTSA general
body meetings (August 27th, October 15th, December 3rd,
February 18th, and April 22nd at 7 PM in the school auditorium),
and the PTSA web site http://myschoolonline.com/TN/CSAS
Your active participation in PTSA activities is important
to our schoolÕs success.
Thank you for your support and the PTSA
board members are eagerly looking forward to serving the
CSAS family members and doing the best for all our children's
education and welfare.
