Michael Mitchell came to Barger in the fall of 2008. He directs the kindergarten, first, and second grade Choraleers, the average attendance is 40 students. He is also the assistant director for the Chattanooga Choral Society for the Preservation of African-American Song, under the direction of Roland Carter. He is a member of the National Association of Negro Musicians (NANM) and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He has toured Singapore, Indonesia, England, Paris, and parts of the United States with choirs. His most memorable trip, the White House, where he had the opportunity to sing a solo.


Mr. Mitchell resides in Chattanooga with his wife, Jennifer, who teaches math at an area high school and his daughter, Jayda.
