2007-2008
ANNUAL REPORT
Summer of 2007 we did the Summer Playground Makeover. We painted all playground equipment in cheerful colors. The front windows and doors of the school was painted. The Alpine Crest Elementary sign was painted in primary colors. We added picnic tables, painted some games on the concrete, added two trees and two bushes. Playground bags were made for each teacher and we added some rocks and pulled weeds at the Outdoor Classroom. We also bought a Bulletin Board that will be displayed in the Hall just for the PTA. This way we can display what we are doing in the PTA.
August 28th: Back to School Night was held!
September 7th: Coupon Book sales started. This is a school fundraiser but we have this listed as a Board Position. Darlene Neal is over this position and we also have other Board Members that help!
September 28th: A Popcorn Party was held for the kids that sold at least one book!
October 3rd: Cookie Dough fundraiser starts! Lori Gough is over Fundraiser’s and is also our Parliamentarian. We raised $7344.00!
The first Nine Weeks ended for AR. The kids that made their goal were given an AR shirt. However, you can earn your T-shirt anytime during the year once you make your AR goal. By the end of the year a majority of the kids in the school had earned their shirt!
October 25th: The First Annual Chi Chi Dog Race was held! J This was from the Cookie Dough Fundraiser.
October 26th: Our Fall Festival was held. We made $7359.24 almost twice what we made last year! Lynnsey Appelhans who is over Fall Festival coordinated new things and changed the time and it was a great success!
November 17th: We did Spare Change for Soldiers. This was a wonderful idea by Cheryl Feeney and she coordinated everything. Each class adopted a soldier and mailed him personalized letters from the class. Each class collected change and money was collected by students at our local Bilo. We collected a total of $1067.48. We were able to send out 31 boxes for Christmas to Soldiers stationed in Iraq from Chattanooga. We were really proud to do this!
December 11th: Our Christmas Program, Tennessee Christmas was held. This included 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade.
January 18th: Our Talent Show was held!
February 12th: Our Book Fair was held. Teri Cox is over this position on our Board!
February 29th: The Sock Hop was held! Missy Bailey is over the Accelerated Reader position on our Board. This was a reward party for our AR kids that met their Second Nine Week AR Goal.
March 5th: Our Bylaws were officially updated.
March 12th: Our Volunteer Hours were submitted by our Volunteer Coordinator Tammy Callison. The total amount of hours were 1829 hours and 45 minutes.
March 28th: Our Reader’s Digest Fundraiser starts. Lori Gough is our Second Vice President who’s role is Fundraiser’s and Parliamentarian. We raised $4000.00.
April 21st: The Hamilton County Principal’s Dinner was held. Mrs. Day was submitted for Principal of the Year and she won! We were so excited for her!
April 18th: We received a PTA Membership Recognition Increase Award. Joan Brady holds the Membership position on our Board.
April 22nd: Our Spring Music Program, Alpine Bandstand, was held. This included Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade.
May 2nd: We had our “50th Year Anniversary Celebration, our PIG OUT dinner and the First Annual Pig Race. The Pig Race was from our Spring Fundraiser. We raised $1250.00. We had a wonderful turn out and it was a big hit!
May 13th: Our Meet the Teacher Night was held.
May 16th: Our AR Inflatable Party was held! Everyone who made there AR goal for the year was able to attend this party! The kids just love it!
We did many special things though out the entire year for our teacher’s and staff. Debbie Bittenbender is over our Hospitality Position. She did something special each month everything from, cooking food, getting treats and snacks, gift cards for Christmas and Teacher Appreciation and more to let our teacher’s and staff know how much we appreciate them!
I just want to say thank you to our wonderful Board! Thank you for all that you did this year and the effort and time that you donate. Thank you again to Lori Gough, Denise Stone, Bob Payne, Missy Bailey, Lynnsey Appelhans, Debbie Bittenbender, Cheryl Feeney, Darlene Neal, Joan Brady, Patti Long, Beth Payne, Terri Cox, Tammy Callison, Mrs. Matherley, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Henry, and to Mrs. Day!
