At Alpine Crest, the second grade team provides a program that lays the foundation for strong academic skills. We incorporate stimulating activities and hands-on experiences to motivate and activate students' love of learning.

Accelerated Reader Program
The Accelerated Reader Program is designed to motivate students to read and provide individualized reading opportunities. Students have the opportunity to earn incentives in the classroom and school-wide. At the end of each 9 weeks, students will have the opportunity to shop in our A.R. point store. Each student will be able to "spend" the points they have earned on items such as toys, school supplies, books, and much more. Each student needs to earn 2-3 points each week to reach their goal. Remember that the stories from our reading series as well as our leveled books from the series are a part of the A.R. program.

Stay in the "Know"
Good home-school communication is vital! Don't forget to check your child's agenda each day for important information regarding homework and class activities. Friday Folders are also an important part of our communication. Please take a few minutes to review your child's work and Behavior Profile each Friday.
